Petrofac COO John Pearson gives Firefly a glowing report on Energy Talks podcast.
In a recent appearance on the Energy Talks podcast, Petrofac’s Chief Operating Officer John Pearson discussed working with Firefly, sharing his strong belief that the company is making all of the right moves to quickly become an industry leader.
Discussing the work currently being undertaken to scale their brand-new sewage biosolids to jet (SBtJ) pathway he said “The economics are great, the technology is well proven, there are customers lined up and I’m super positive that this one will scale up”.
John is not alone in praising the Firefly proposition, across the SAF industry many leaders and commentators are beginning to discuss the company’s promising future with their new pathway that solves environmental issues at both ends of the value chain. By disposing of unwanted sewage and creating sustainable fuels, Firefly boasts a uniquely climate-positive business model that is both financially and environmentally sustainable.
Petrofac are supporting Firefly and are helping the company to scale at pace, with the company’s first commercial-scale facility set to come online in Harwich, England in 2028/29.
“The great thing about Firefly is that it can be replicated all over the world by plugging in to existing sewage infrastructure” explains James Hygate, Firefly’s CEO. “We’re developing a SAF pathway that runs on a feedstock that all societies can’t help producing in vast quantities every day, the sky really is the limit”.
