Firefly at SMI Markets Initiative – Hampton Court Palace

Firefly CEO James Hygate OBE recently joined global leaders at the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) workshops, held at Hampton Court Palace.

The programme brought together senior figures from industry, government and finance to explore how collective action can accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. Through a series of focused roundtables, attendees examined the practical challenges of scaling emerging technologies, mobilising investment, and translating ambition into measurable progress.

A standout moment was the opportunity to spend time with King Charles III and discuss the critical role of innovation and collaboration in delivering net zero. His longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship continues to galvanise efforts across sectors and geographies.

For Firefly, the discussions underscored a clear imperative: progress now depends on pace, partnership and delivery. Decarbonising aviation will require solutions that are not only ambitious, but also scalable and commercially viable. Engagement with leaders across energy, infrastructure and finance highlighted a growing consensus around the need for practical, deployable pathways.

Firefly is proud to contribute to this shared effort—working alongside partners to help turn intent into action and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future.
